Budgeting Services

The Office of Clinical Trial Activation (OCTA) offers comprehensive budget services and financial negotiation specifically tailored for industry-sponsored clinical trials. Visit our website and follow the steps outlined in How to Activate a Study with Us.

When an industry-sponsored study requires a coverage analysis, our OCTA Budget Analysts:

  • Develop protocol-specific budgets and negotiate with sponsors to secure sufficient financial support.
  • Ensure the use of standardized costs for research procedures and clinical trials.
  • Accurately negotiate budget and payment terms within clinical trial agreements.

Have questions about budgeting for your industry-sponsored study? Contact the assigned budget analyst for your study or reach out via email at [email protected].

Additional services

  • Procedural Pricing Estimates: If OCTA is not preparing the full study budget (e.g., non-profit studies, grant-funded studies, or budgets developed by the study department) and you need price estimates for costs billed in APeX (or Epic) for procedures that involve multiple CPT codes (like bone marrow biopsy and aspirate, lumbar puncture, liver or kidney biopsy, or any procedure involving anesthesia, the operating room, specialty room, treatment room, or recovery room/post-anesthesia care unit), please use the Procedural Pricing Request Form.
  • Feasibility Budgets for Industry-Funded Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs): If you need assistance with projecting costs, you may request a feasibility budget from OCTA by submitting the Clinical Trial Activation Request Form, include the Sponsor name and attach the study protocol or schedule of events. Alternatively, if you plan on building your own budget and only need price estimates for costs billed in APeX (or Epic), complete the Procedural Pricing Request Form.
  • Industry-Sponsored Studies That Do NOT Required Coverage Analysis: If you need budget and contract support, please locate your support within the Industry Contracts Division (ICD) or reach the team via email at [email protected].
  • Non-Industry Sponsored Studies: If you need budget and contract support, please contact Office of Sponsored Research.
